About Sofia
—
My work is grounded in the ornamental and architectural traditions of Islamic art, expressed through geometry and pattern as living systems rather than decoration. I design with a deep respect for structure, symmetry, and proportion, drawing from the visual language of Islamic art as it appears in historic mosques and built environments.
I see my practice as part of a longer continuum — carrying forward the work of illuminated artisans whose tiles, textiles, and manuscripts shaped spaces of devotion and calm. Rather than replicating history, my work renews its spirit, allowing these traditions to live again within contemporary interiors.
Each design is developed to translate across scale and application — from rugs and wall systems to architectural surfaces — with a focus on timelessness over trend. The work balances presence and restraint, creating spaces that feel grounded, expressive, and at ease, where beauty becomes a form of remembrance.
